Tarweed is also known as a tarplant. It is a common name for various plants belonging to the family Asteraceae of the Madieae. The plants belonging to the Tarweed category are usually less than 3 feet or 1 meter in height. This plant is branched, upright, and produced on an annual basis.
The species belonging to the tarweed plant is native to the regions of Western-North America and South-Western South America. A tarweed plant is a hairy and adherent plant; comprising around 18 species.
The plant also bears beautiful yellow or brownish flowers, somewhat similar to that of a daisy flower. Flowers bloom between April to September; that period is said to be its peak blooming time. It is interesting to note that some of its species are also grown to serve ornamental purposes in the gardens for their strong fragrance and elegant color. Also, its plant is grown in Chile for its oily content.
Tarweed Uses
Uses include the tarplant to serve ornamental purposes like mentioned above, as it has a sweet aroma and shiny surface. Not only from an eating point of view is the Tarweed plant fine, but also it has been used to treat venereal diseases, that is, diseases caused by sexual contact. Other than that, the Tarweed plant also treats bronchial problems or complications caused by poisons such as poison ivy. Sometimes, the Tarweed plant also cures burns, dermatitis, eczema, and skin inflammation.
Tarweed Seeds
Out of various parts of a Tarweed plant, the seeds are of very much significance. How is that? Are these seeds beneficial either from an eating point of view only? Via removal of Tarweed from the plant by direct means or by some chemical method. It may include; increment in the canopy coverage and usage of soil moisture by manipulating the fertility of the soil present.
